Recently we encountered the following error while trying to play an XviD movie file in Winamp.

You are most likely here because you encountered the same error. Fixing the problem is pretty easy and in this article we will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to solve the problem and get Winamp and XviD working as they should.
The xvidcore.dll is the file that Winamp uses to decode XviD video files so they can be played back on your computer. Basically, the reason you are getting the error message is because somehow the file has been moved, corrupted, or deleted and Winamp can't find it. To fix the error the file must be replaced. Here are the steps you should follow in order to get a new xvidcore.dll file:
- First you must uninstall the XviD codec from your computer. Do this by going to the Control Panel and then to 'Add or Remove Programs'. Search for XviD and run the uninstall. If you are prompted to reboot then you must do so or else you won't be able to fix the problem.
- After uninstalling and rebooting download the latest XviD codec. As of Nov 30th, 2007 the latest codec is: XviD-1.1.3-28062007.exe
- Install the codec and the problem should be fixed.
This should fix the problem. If you are still having problems after trying the above then please feel free to leave a comment and we will see if we can help you.
