The Sundance Catalog

A brief overview of the Sundance Catalog and the history behind it.

Published Jul 14, 2005 by lobo235

When I was a kid I always remember seeing the Sundance Catalog on the coffee table of a friend's house. His mom purchased quite a few items from the Sundance Catalog for her wardrobe and to decorate her home. Their home was always very nicely decorated and was an enjoyable place to be in. After doing some research recently I found out that the Sundance Catalog is still around and going strong. Sundance has been around since 1969 when it first opened. A year after the opening a small general store was opened to sell special items to the visiting guests. Many people who visited the Sundance Resort would write letters from home asking if there was any way they could get a certain item they saw in the store while they were visiting the Sundance Resort. Robert Redford then thought up the idea to create a mail-order catalog so that the people writing in to get items from the store would have an easy way to purchase them. Also, by creating the Sundance Catalog, a much larger customer base could be reached.

The Sundance Catalog has been around since 1989 when the inaugural issue was sent to a small group of customers and friends of the Sundance Resort and Robert Redford. Since then, the catalog has become quite popular among Sundance guests and visitors including many famous celebrities who come to the Sundance Film Festival each year. The catalog features items such as Jewelry, Apparel, Home Decor, Furniture, and more. The Sundance Catalog has a conservative, artistic theme. Most of the items in the catalog would be right at home in a cabin nestled in the mountains.

The Sundance Catalog can be requested online for free on the Sundance Catalog website located at http://www.sundancecatalog.com/. More information about the Sundance Resort can be found on http://www.sundanceresort.com/.
