A recent trend is sweeping the nation that is reducing waste in landfills and saving consumers money. The idea of using water bottles with a built in filter is becoming more popular as everyone looks for ways to reduce their 'Carbon Footprint'. A filtered water bottle can be used 300+ times before the filter needs to be replaced. By purchasing one filtered water bottle and reusing it you can prevent up to 300 water bottles from entering landfills.
Usually the filters on these filtered water bottles are just a carbon filter which mostly improves the taste of the water but they do little to filter harmful contaminants from the water. If you are wanting something that filters things like Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, bacteria, and viruses then you're going to need a different type of water filter like the ones used by backpackers to filter water from mountain streams or by travelers visiting foreign countries where the drinking water is unsafe. But if you just want something to make your tap water taste like bottled water then filtered water bottles are the answer.
One of the most popular filtered water bottles out there right now is the one made by Bobble. It's got a smooth shape that's easy to grip and squeeze which is good because with a filtered water bottle you do need to squeeze on the bottle to force the water through the filter. You can also suck on the nozzle of the bottle to pull water through but this doesn't work as well as squeezing. The Bobble filtered water bottle
has a filter that lasts for 300 uses or about 40 gallons of water. The Bobble website says this means you should change the filter every 2 months but depending on how much bottled water you drink each day yours might last longer. The Bobble brand water bottles come in an assortment of colors so you can choose the one that suits you best.
There are a couple other brands of filtered water bottles out there as well but the Bobble water bottles are getting most of the attention at this point because of their stylish design and functionality. We bought a filtered water bottle for each of our kids, myself, and my spouse and we use them quite a bit. The water you drink out of a filtered water bottle does taste a lot better and more closely resembles bottled water than plain tap water does. Take a look at the following filtered water bottles.
